Earlier this month, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced a goal date of June 15th to reopen all business sectors statewide, including the return of conventions and trade shows.  Provided that the state continues its progress in vaccination distribution and minimizing hospitalizations, the governor has declared that the state can “return to usual operations” with preliminary guidelines for conventions:

  • Unless testing or vaccination status is verified for all attendees, conventions will be capped at 5,000 attendees until October 1, 2021.
  • International convention attendees will only be allowed if fully vaccinated.

We expect detailed guidance, when available,  will  further address specifics on the role risk-mitigation practices like masking, physical distancing and vaccinations/testing will play when conventions/trade shows return.  Once the State guidance is reviewed by Los Angeles County Public Health (LADPH) and county protocols are announced, the Los Angeles Convention Center will adjust its Roadmap to Recovery accordingly to welcome convention/trade shows into our venue once again.

In the meantime, Los Angeles County continues to reopen more business sectors while transitioning into the Orange Tier of the CA Blueprint for a Safer Economy.  To get a complete listing of business sectors open in the county, please visit the LADPH website.
