The City of Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering has announced that US Rte 101 will be closed for 40 hours to enable safe demolition of a section of the Sixth Street Viaduct, located over the freeway. The 40-hour full freeway closure on US Rte 101 through downtown LA will take place starting Friday Feb. 5th at 10 p.m. to Sunday Feb. 7th at 2 p.m.

This year kicked off right with the LA Fit Expo, where nearly 60,000 expected attendees were on hand to share their love of fitness and health.
The conference and exhibition was held Jan. 23-24 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. With so much going on at the show, it was hard to know where to go first. And, with the two-day format, attendees packed the floor to get in as much as possible.

LOS ANGELES – Mayor Garcetti today announced that the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC), professionally managed by AEG Facilities, has become the largest convention center in America to be recertified at the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold level. The venue first achieved Gold certification in 2010.
Westec 2015 proved to be the place to be for the manufacturing industry. More than 11,000 attendees (up nearly 5 percent from 2013) and 400-plus exhibitors from more than 500 manufacturing companies used the 103,600 square feet of show floor space to learn, connect and discover.
This year’s show was held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, and the location was no accident.

Turnstile attendance at 260,700, up 18% from last year
Anime Expo's official website reported on Monday that it had more than 90,500 unique attendees at this year's event, up 12% from 2014 and setting a new attendance record for the convention.

City of Los Angeles Announces 3 Los Angeles Convention Center Design Options Now Available for Public Viewing
LOS ANGELES -- As an integral next step in the “Expansion and Futurization Project” for the Los Angeles Convention Center, the City of Los Angeles, led by the L.A. Department of Convention and Tourism Development and the Bureau of Engineering, spearheaded a design competition to select an architect for the proposed renovation and expansion of the Los Angeles Convention Center. Three final teams were selected and their work is now on public display beginning Wednesday, May 20th through June 4th, 2015.
Running a large facility with thousands of visitors coming through can be a challenge in the middle of one of the most severe droughts on record in the state of California, but that’s the daily reality for the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The Los Angeles Convention Center, currently the focus of major expansion and renovation plans, has already implemented water saving measures and technologies. Furthermore it searches for ways to reuse water whenever possible. Just last month the LACC partnered with Green LA in such an effort.
